Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business 2009

GMBA
Na Cui

We feel honored to take part in this fabulous party which acknowledge and congratulate the achievements of Asian business men and women, and we are very proud of these wise people who made the outstanding accomplishment and contribution to the economy despite adversity and the tough environment.

This year’s theme is “Developing Asian Talent and Leadership in the Global Marketplace” which reflect the rise of Asia in the world marketplace. Just as featured speaker Dr. Vishakha N. Desai who is the president of Asia Society, said “Forty year ago, nobody pay much attention of the Asian entity, but now they are helping power the engine of the economy. And the depth and breadth of their undertaking clearly demonstrate that Asian Americans are an integral part of the larger economy. ”

I enjoy this kind of happy atmosphere, and stay with these people who have wise and unique minds, you’ll feel that you could be one of them one day. And it’s really a good opportunity to make network by talking to the people who have different backgrounds.

2009 Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business Award Dinner took place on Wednesday, June 10 at the Hilton New York. This annual event, now in its eighth year, is the only forum to highlight the achievements of Asian Americans across the United States. The awards are not only to honor the individuals, but to encourage the development of talent and leadership among Asian American corporate executives. Over 500 guests attended the 2008 awards dinner with 50 honorees representing a variety of Asian ethnic backgrounds, including Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indian, Thai and Vietnamese. The Pinnacle Award, which is awarded to the person who has reached the top of his/her field, was given to Wei Sun Christianson this year, who is an Executive Director and Beijing Chief Representative of Morgan Stanley. We represented GMBA of Kean University to attend the event yesterday. Here are some pictures.

Attending Kean University 12th Annual Gala

GMBA
Claire Liu

Every year Kean University has an annual gala. This year was the 12th Gala which was held on Ellis Island. Its purpose was for a good cause - raising money to complete the new Human Right Center which is scheduled to open this fall. We’re honored to attend the party on June 7. There were a lot of people (including some our GMBA students) in the party. At the dinner, the special guests, such as Paul Rusesabagina, businessman and Human Rights leader whose life story has inspired the Oscar-nominated film, Hotel Rwanda, and John Prendergast, award-winning author and human rights activist, gave inspiring speeches. I have been really excited about this event which was my very first formal party in the U.S..
The followings are some pictures taken at the party.

Travel and learn to China

GMBA

During March 11-21, the GMBA and EMBA students have had the opportunity to be a part of a Global Business Travel/Learn to China. There were 28 students participating in the program. They visited major companies (such as the Lenovo,Vance Infro), listened to lectures related to doing business in China and networked with MBA students from Capital University of Economic and Business (CUEB) in Beijing and China- Euro International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai. Besides, the students travelled to Beijing, Shanghai and Suzhou, and participated in cultural activities. This is a wonderful experience for them. Some students even didn’t want to be back so soon. The followings are some good pictures taken during the trip. For those are interested, there is also a blog created by some participating students.
